Anyway, the film is in the pre-production stages. I think that is a crazy pick for the lead role as Joplin; they're first pick was apparently the washed-up pop star "Pink".
Come to think of it, Renée was really good as Gina in Empire Records
and had a raspy singing voice. Maybe she can pull it off.
Joss Stone may have done a good job, too, but since she denied Tom Cruise of some booty, she is probably banned from Hollywood for life.
The film's title is Piece of My Heart.
